Newberg Man Indicted and Arrested for Theft of ATM at Linfield College
Machine Contained $31,880 When Stolen in June 2008
Portland, Ore.—Luke Earl Smith, 28, of Newberg, Oregon, has been indicted by a federal Grand Jury for the theft of a U.S. Bank automatic teller machine (ATM) containing $31,880.00 at Linfield College in McMinnville on June 15, 2008. Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Smith this morning in Newberg. Smith is expected to make his initial appearance for arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Janice Stewart at 1:30 p.m. today in the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse.

The case is jointly investigated by the FBI and detectives from the McMinnville Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Stephen F. Peifer.
