Hillsboro Resident Appears in Federal Court on Charges of Possessing Child Pornography
FBI's Innocent Images Task Force Investigation Leads to Arrest
PORTLAND, OR—The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that Dewey S. Burr, 50, appeared
today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Papak for his initial appearance on a criminal complaint
charging him with possession of child pornography.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents and Hillsboro Police Detectives arrested
Burr Tuesday morning at his Hillsboro apartment. The arrest grew out of nationwide Innocent
Images Task Force investigation in which undercover agents downloaded, through the Internet,
hundreds of graphic and violent images of child pornography from Burr’s computer. The images
described in court documents were of minor girls engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Following a detention hearing, U.S. Magistrate Judge Papak released the defendant and
ordered him to abide by a series of Pretrial Release conditions, including having his whereabouts
monitored by a GPS monitoring device. Burr’s next court hearing is scheduled for August 13,
2009.
The Innocent Images Task Force is an FBI task force made up of federal and state law
enforcement agents who investigative individuals who manufacture and traffic in child
pornography and those who prey on children on-line. The Portland FBI’s Innocent Images Task Force includes representatives from the Beaverton Police Department and the Hillsboro Police
Department.

A complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and every defendant should be presumed
innocent until proven guilty.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Scott Kerin.
