Hillsboro Man Arraigned on Charges of Travel with Intent to Engage in
Sexual Conduct with a Minor
PORTLAND, OR—Vernon Woodall, 50, of Hillsboro, Oregon, appeared yesterday before
U.S. Magistrate Judge Donald Ashmanskas on an indictment charging him with one count of
travel with intent to engage in sexual conduct with a minor. Woodall was detained pending trial,
which is scheduled for October 6, 2009. The maximum penalty if Woodall is convicted is 30
years in prison.
An indictment is only an accusation of a crime. The defendant is presumed innocent until
proven guilty.
This case was investigated by the Hillsboro Police Department and the Federal Bureau of
Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ethan D.
Knight.
