FBI and Father of Ashlyn Wilson Mark Her 14th Birthday

Thursday, November 20, 2008, marks Ashlyn Wilson’s 14th birthday. She has been missing since she was an infant. The FBI holds a federal fugitive warrant for her mother, Tara Suzanne Wilson, and agents are still, despite the years, actively pursuing this case. To this end, the FBI is featuring this case in the fugitive section of its national web site at www.fbi.gov/wanted.htm and on its local home page at http://portland.fbi.gov today.

Ashlyn was born in Dallas, Oregon. Her father, Dan Wilson fought for legal custody. (Although Dan and Tara Wilson share the same last name, they were never married.) Tara Wilson failed to appear at a series of legal hearings in 1994, and she fled with Ashlyn 1995. Although the courts later awarded full custody to Dan Wilson, he has never seen his daughter.

On July 25, 1995, Polk County authorities issued an arrest warrant for Tara Wilson, charging her with violating the custody court order. In January 2003, at the request of the Polk County District Attorney’s Office, the FBI obtained a federal fugitive arrest warrant charging Tara Wilson with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Agents believe that Tara and Ashlyn Wilson may be living somewhere in California, Montana or Canada, likely under assumed names. Members of Tara Wilson’s family continue to live in the Polk County and Marion County area.

Tara Wilson’s description is as follows:

Race: White
Date of birth used: 10/2/71
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 145 pounds
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Bluish-green

There is no current description of Ashlyn, however, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has provided an age-progressed photo of what she may look like now.

The “FBI Wanted” poster as well as photos are available on the FBI website at http://portland.fbi.gov
