Forensic
Lab Earns Rare Honor
Ceremony and Media Tour
On
Wednesday, February 11, 2009, the FBI and other law
enforcement partner agencies will celebrate a rare
honor for the Northwest Regional Computer Forensics
Laboratory. The NW RCFL has earned accreditation from
the American Society of Laboratory Directors for its
work in processing digital and multi-media evidence.
The NW RCFL is only the 30th such lab in the world
and only the eighth RCFL to earn this honor.
The accreditation process is an intensive assessment
which evaluates the qualifications of all laboratory
personnel; the laboratory's operational and technical
policies, practices, and procedures; and the laboratory's
quality management system. The goal is to ensure that
the processing of each piece of evidence is done with
the highest levels of quality and accuracy.
